Brooklyn, Our Family, and Why I’ve Been Quiet

I haven’t shared a video update since we left the hospital. I want to explain what has been happening and thank the people who have supported Brooklyn and our family.

Earlier this year, our daughter Brooklyn was seriously injured when she was struck by a city bus. She was cared for at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and I shared video updates during that time.

Brooklyn is home

Brooklyn is home recovering from the accident. Some of the effects will be lifelong, and we’re doing everything we can to help her.

Our family is represented by legal counsel in Brooklyn’s matter, and we are not commenting on it at this time. There is more I hope to share when the time is right.

Why the Updates Stopped

On the day I left the hospital, I developed an infection that led to an abscess in my mouth. I’ve had dental problems for a long time. After seeing two new dentists, I learned that I had a large cyst in my face and jaw.

I needed surgery to remove the cyst, along with all of my upper teeth. I recorded some videos to document the process because I intended to make an update. But I struggled after the surgery, and it has been hard to put that update together.

At the same time, I’ve been working to keep my business afloat and doing everything I can to support my family financially. Recovering, working, and taking care of my family have taken most of what I’ve had to give.

My Treatment Is Still Ongoing

My own treatment is still ongoing. Right now, I have a temporary denture. I still need to have my lower teeth removed, have implant posts placed, and eventually receive permanent implants.

I wanted to share this so the people who followed our hospital updates would understand why I’ve been quiet. I haven’t forgotten the support our family received. I’ve been trying to get through a difficult stretch while keeping things going at home and at work.
